Props to the FedEx pilot for spotting the other plane and taking swift action, apparently. Note that visibility was apparently down to 1/8th of a mile, or ~200m. Yikes.

I heard the ATC feed this morning and my neck hair stood up.
I wonder if this was just a long day for the controller and a momentary lapse or if they’re being pressured not to slow down Southwest flights and wanted to get it off the ground on time? I know that’s tinfoil-hat-y, but the last few months have shown just how fragile their/the system is and I imagine there’s a lot going on behind the scenes on the Federal side of things to help mitigate trouble.
