Abraham Lempel passed away at age of 87. Together with Jacob Ziv, He co-authored the LZ family compression algorithms which were later being used by ZIP,GIF,PNG,MP3 & PDF file types.

He is lucky in a sense that he lived a golden age of Algorithms.
