Also, having watched series 1 of The White Lotus, it seemed to me that Australian actor Murray Bartlett was doing a terrific homage to Basil Fawlty in his role as off-kilter hotel manager.
I want to watch it but I'm terrified of having such a cozy memory ruined by a potentially awful reboot.
I'm just not sure how it could be brought back in a meaningfully similar way? Nostalgia is a dangerous thing because a failed reboot can somehow tarnish the original.

Just look at Hollywood. Every now and then they reboot some movies or they make a follow up: Cinderella, Pinnocchio, Mad Max, Avatar, Star Wars etc.
