Ask HN: SMS Surveys for Research?

Does anyone have experience participating in or proctoring surveys/polls through text message? I'm interested in hearing about your experience. The good, bad, ugly, and outcome.

I'm finishing a custom SMS API and thought it might benefit research universities who routinely conduct surveys and polls. However, I've not seen a study that leveraged SMS surveys.

I hate getting them. They pop up around election cycles. I sometimes respond nicely, but sometimes more directly to "pound the dirt"

Yeah, I hate those too. Few seem to get through spam protection these days though.
