Why does Apple buy to kill service like Primephonic?

This was a great app but only bought to be entirely killed. There is no news about it or anything anymore. How does this decision make sense? I don't it take years to already built app to integrate.

[ 2.9 ms ] story [ 20.0 ms ] threadMaybe it’s harder to integrate with Apple’s music platform?
Or maybe the team just fell apart after the acquisition.
It seems likely that they are just delayed or failing than that they bought it to kill it.
2) Apple might have bought the company more as an Acqui-hire: recruiting expects is hard, so maybe for pocket change for them Apple viewed the acquisition more as a way to buy a team of great developers who know a lot about music stuff who could help them with many different products.
