Ask HN: Is there another community that loves to hate itself as much as us?
We say we love the site and we hate it. We simultaneously poke fun at and celebrate everyone's perceived intelligence. We think many comments are smug and out of touch. We laugh at how pedantic we are and love to toss in the occasional razor and strawman accusation. We have deep, meaningful discussions and shallow petty tantrums. We think the site is overrun by those with the opposite political ideology.
Through all of this, we seem to enjoy things well enough to keep coming back. Is this unique?

[ 4.4 ms ] story [ 21.6 ms ] threadHumans crave social interaction. It doesn’t have to be positive to be rewarding, and it doesn’t have to be critical to be constructive. Just so long as there’s someone on the other end, plausibly, reading it.
What’s better? Screaming into the void and hearing an echo? Or a response?
Not gonna lie, I get a little dopamine hit when someone replies to one of my comments here. I don't care if it's a snipe, or nit-picky, any reply will do.
