Sad news but wasn't unexpected - everyday has had zero openings for a while. I liked some of their work, really cool stuff.
Alphabet went through many shots at robotics - they owned Boston Dynamics not too long ago and acquired a bunch of companies then before selling all of it to SoftBank because the guy who was heading the initiative left (or let go?).
Until recently, they had Everyday Robots, Intrinsic (which acquired most of the company that maintained opened source ROS - Robot Operating System and a bunch of other cool startups), there are robotics teams at Google Brain and also some other teams at Google Research.
I'm really starting to hate the incoherent culture at Google. Yes, I'd call it a culture problem - it's always one guy or a team that comes up with a plan, tries to create an entire team for that without considering what Google already has been doing or did in the past, do some cool stuff for a while, and then promotions happen, priorities change and they shut down the team.
I don't trust any of the new Google products anymore - Maps, Gmail, YouTube, and Google Photos are the only ones I used and will be using (until there are better free or reasonably priced and feature-rich alternatives).
