Upvoted, because the slack part is interesting. Does anyone know what other/replacement communication systems are used internally at Twitter? For my $job, slack is basically where everything happens and if it suddenly disappeared, it would take days for the team to reorganise and probably weeks before I would know how to reliably reach people in other teams. The long tail effects of potentially losing the search history are hard to quantify...
Regardless of everything else happening at the bird site, I'd love to hear how their engineers work through this issue. This is an impressive social experiment!
A lot of legacy media organisations dislike the idea of a competitor (twitter) without narrative control. It wouldn’t surprise me if Microsoft or Google had similar numbers of people complaining about late payment of bills or payments were simply missed during the restructure.
I don’t think he’s lying but I also don’t think one could say that it is proven he hasn’t modified the system for his benefit just based on the public information on views/impressions/etc.
I imagine it wouldn’t be hard to fake these public facing numbers if a system was modified to boost his tweets.
While I get being skeptical these legacy news organizations, I also don’t see how we could trust Twitter directly in this situation especially given what we’ve already seen what happened under previous leadership there.
Edit: sorry if any of this came off as combative, I’m just irritated with people throwing out how things have been “proved” with equally subjective/potentially unreliable data.
