I read the article but it seems to me to be just an angry person like those who rail against new things. I think 90% of real developers don't give a damn whether they're writing in C or Rust, and I don't think taking it out on the new stuff at all costs is helpful, it just makes you a grumpy conservative. Only time will give the answer as to who will survive, taking sides now is pure speculation.
Evolution is a good thing and shining syndrome is a bad thing but I think a healthy middle ground exists.
