Ask HN: How does YT do live captioning and make it look like a TV show?

I just saw on the live SpaceX docking video, the captions were appearing before the narrators even said anything.

It was subtitled like it was pre-recorded instead of the traditional letter by letter scroll.

Are they just delaying the video? Anyone know how they are doing this, technically?

Live video tends to have 30-90 seconds of delay so it's not hard to imagine that the AI transcription can catch up or outrun the video.
so google gets the audio early? who is delaying it?
Google is causing the delay so they get everything "early".
That's an insane delay. I guess it's optional, otherwise streamers wouldn't be able to interact with their chat.

Twitch (which low latency mode) is like 3 seconds.
