The idea that a supposedly serious university had a "bias response team" and "equity officer" is the most screwed up part of this. What kind of learning environment does that create? It's exactly the same as the political officers that the USSR used to have.
See, hate thought-crimes exist. We committed hate crimes just to show you it exists! Solidarity with our fellow hate crime hoaxers who are doing the brave thing and going out there committing hate crimes to raise awareness for hate crimes, because clearly there are not enough "hate crimes" of people writing unapproved language and holding unapproved ideas. Comrades, we must raise awareness for hate crimes by any means necessary, and this means faking hate crimes. The end justifies the means for our red guard and our cultural revolution, even if we're making this up as we go along.
