How did they design this car, did they hire non-automotive engineers to it? Build problems happen that's usually not the engineers fault but this seems to be a build and engineering problem. Possibly a quality control issue too.
I've removed steering wheels in non-tesla cars and it's a pain in the ass. Almost as if they don't want you to take it off. Even after removing the retaining bolt/nut it's pressed on to a splined shaft and literally pressed to fit. I always had to use steering wheel puller or another 2/3 jaw puller.
This crazy. If it wasn't engineered to be a press fit where friction can hold it in place in addition to the retaining bolt that bad. If it was engineered that way but not fully seated on the shaft. That's a quality control problem to not see the spacing is off.
I want to want a Tesla, but I value build quality and reliability too much. At this point I am just waiting for other car manufacturers to catch up a bit more on electric vehicles. At that point what does a Tesla really offer? At some point they need to evolve their ethos if they want to keep selling cars.
Are you serious? A charlatan who has already driven one company straight into the ground and has raised a huge amount of money based on unbelievable amount of fucking lies, false timelines, false claims about battery technology, false claims about sustainability and so on. Its about the last thing any sane person should try to buy.
Apparently both cases were "remanufactured" cars, after a build process failure. A flaw in the process for cars that go back to the manufacturing line, to be rebuilt?

you do not want your steering wheel flying into your face when your airbag goes off into a collision. so securing it with a press fit secures that.
