I’m curious about how they did this?

When you try to send a text/iMessage, it fails immediately, but does the phone keep trying again?

Or would they have had to put that in a delay? Just not sure how it would’ve worked.

Cuz I’ve noticed I usually have to explicitly tell iMessage to resend a failed message.

On Android it tries a few times before giving up. You could also schedule the txt to send in a minute or two to give the drone time to ascend.
Basically a modern, hi-tech version of “type your message on nokia, hit send and throw it as high as you can”.
