Microsoft's cloud solution architect, Claire Aphis, has discussed the importance of responsible AI implementation in businesses. Advancements in AI have brought benefits, but there are ethical dilemmas to its use. Nearly 90% of organizations have encountered ethical issues relating to AI. Microsoft has developed six principles when building AI systems that aim to put people first to counter these issues – fairness, reliability and safety, privacy and security, inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability. Microsoft has created the Office of Responsible AI and the AI Ethics and Effects and Engineering and Research (ETHER) Committee to embed these principles into action. Aphis recommends that businesses integrate responsible AI principles into the early stages of a project's development to avoid ethical issues later on. Microsoft provides two resources to companies for responsible AI implementation: the AI Business School and a range of AI resources. Microsoft's Partner Tech Talks series covers responsible AI and ML to provide tailored learning and guidance to accelerate business practices. The responsible AI and ML workshops aid Microsoft partners in developing awareness of responsible AI and governance models for their organization as they engage in AI projects with customers.
