It's the other way around. The websites that are being mined for "training materials" should assert their intellectual property rights.
That's an interesting point that I've seen discussed a lot in regards to training AI image generation and code regurgitation but not brought up with regard to LLMs in general probably because it's harder to point a finger at a particular thing and see out and out plagiarism.
Well, my father who heard about the ChatGPT hype believed it is an app you download from the Play Store and proceeded to download a couple of knockoffs with paid subscription features.
