Not sure I agree with the conclusion. Having worked and gone to school in the neighborhood, everyone loved Eric Owen Moss’s unique style and it helped Culver City stand out from the rest of LA.
Truly hideous and a blight on the eyes. I wonder what majesties of modernist and post-modernist architecture the architect lives and works in? I’ll try not to laugh when I find out.
The short answer: If the Client is happy then you won.
The bigger question that should be asked is, on a global scale, how much is being wasted indulging architectural whimsy? Excessive use of materials, energy efficiency compromised for appearances, conditioned space lost to giant lobbies...
