Tell HN: ChatGPT is probably leaking chat data

5 points by akamhy ↗ HN
I was using chatGPT for summarising some text, after I reloaded the page because of some network issues and my chats were somehow not listed on the side bar but some other random chats were visible, which I suspect maybe of other users.

Here is a screenshot, https://akamhy.me/assets/chatGPT-is-probably-leaking-chats.png

I have never asked chatGPT about any of these topics ever, I am very confident about it unless I have some type of split personality disorder, haha.

The chat links are:

I can not access these chats but just the name for these chats, If I click on these chats I get an error. e.g. Unable to load conversation c328593a-ee73-4f4d-b414-4a5e3bc38f22

Can anyone from OpenAI look into it?

I can confirm that this is definitely happening, and people are talking about it in the OpenAI Discord server. I've also found other users' email addresses by finding them auto-populated into the email field on the payments page.
I'm seeing the same, but only in the sidebar. I see titles of other people's conversations, but clicking them does not actually render the chat.

Authentication/authorization code is hard.

Anyone not using various AI tools because of the privacy-violating implications?
