[–] diebeforei485 3y ago ↗ This should be the policy for every media organization. Employees can still use TikTok on their personal phones or iPads (or even on the web). The small number of people whose job it is to post content on social media can be issued a separate device solely for TikTok. [–] sacnoradhq 3y ago ↗ Do they not have MDM?Why were they running random apps on work phones anyhow?Massive security and privacy vulnerability. Also, BYOD is a terrible idea because comingling personal and work is a minefield for both the employee and the company. [–] bberrry 3y ago ↗ It's one of the most installed apps on the planet, hardly a "random app". [–] sacnoradhq 3y ago ↗ Popularity is orthogonal to organizational approval for the apps they want on their devices. If Yelp corporate doesn't want Google Maps on their phone for reason X, that's a policy decision. It's largely unenforceable without MDM enrollment. [–] schwartzworld 3y ago ↗ It comes preinstalled on some phones. [–] CodeyWhizzBang 3y ago ↗ They do have MDM. But that doesn't necessarily stop people installing their own apps.

[–] brwck 3y ago ↗ The UK government banned tiktok on government phones a few days ago.https://apnews.com/article/uk-tiktok-government-ban-470538b4...The BBC is british state propaganda. So of course they have to ban tiktok too.
[–] RandomChance 3y ago ↗ Wow, I don't install anything non-work related on my work phone....And not only because I consider anything typed into it as accessible to IT (even if just in a proxy log or something.)
