Unless you clean toilets, assist the elderly, or are the architect of "The Matrix", your job will largely be replaced with AI and people who make less than you do.

I’ll counter that pessimism by saying that humanity is weighed down by an enormous number of unsolved existential risks. We appear to be barreling towards the edge of our resource cliff. AI could be our magic bullet.

There have been no panaceas, so how would GAI be different?

It's not like scientists were sitting there folding proteins by hand until AI came along... It was always computational.

Well, 20 years ago, that's basically how it was.

Picking the folds of the structure, often by hand, and applying a fixed set of rules in a p-chem simulator by computer to see if it worked.

AI produces the ability to automate the entire process.

Does it just find "the best option"? Or does the AI spit out hundreds of combos that scientists still have to create and try?
