I suspect TikTok being the most potent medium for propaganda also plays more than a little role.
The ability for a clever civilian to post a video (this is key) stitch of US officials projecting propaganda and then skilfully and completely deconstucting it is dangerous. It could undo decades of hard work.
I would say: the bandwidth and high dimensionality of video, combined with the algorithm, blasting subversive ideas into people's minds... And many of these ideas are not just undoing the ones written by the government, but overriding them with opposite, much more accurate ones.
If I was running an illusory regime, I would take them out too.
