Tell HN: Twitter just turned off two-factor authentication my account

1 points by nfriedly ↗ HN
Twitter just sent me an email stating:

> You've turned off two-factor authentication for @nfriedly

> This means you’ll no longer have this added protection when you log in to Twitter. Your account will be more vulnerable to compromise. You can turn on two-factor authentication any time in the Account > Security section of your Twitter settings.

This is false, as I did not turn it off. Also, there doesn't appear to be an Account > Security section their settings any more.

UPDATE: It sounds like twitter turned off SMS 2FA, but still allows you to use 2FA with an Authenticator app. Enable it at https://twitter.com/settings/account/login_verification

On the web it’s under: "More" / "Settings and Support" / "Settings and Privacy" / "Security and Account Access" / "Security". This is on my account with 2FA set up but not via SMS (which is what Musk announced was being removed weeks ago).
Aah, ok, that's what I needed. Thank you.
