Short story, checked in online but still needed to pickup a physical boarding pass (online didn’t generate a qr/barcode code)

Security would not let me through without a barcode to scan.

I remember seeing on HN generators and decoders of boarding passes.

Searched and found the link above.

Got me through security at Hong Kong airport, otherwise I was out of pocket 100s of dollars and alot of in convenience. Brilliant.

I'm skeptical of your story. I happen to know quite a bit about these codes and the one this tool generates is missing a number of fields.

it got me through automated security gates in HK as it just scans passport and secondary boarding pass. got boarding at gate where there was staff.
