Ask HN: Slack macOS app battery impact

Hey HN! I have a work-issued 2021 14in Macbook Pro and if Slack is open, my battery life is ~half (3-4 hours) of what it is if it's closed. Slack (version 4.31.155) consistently has 2x the "energy impact" of Chrome (loaded up with tabs) in the macOS Activity Monitor.

Hardware acceleration is enabled in Slack settings, and I'm logged into several workspaces as part of our Slack Enterprise Grid setup ( it's moderately annoying that I can't sign out of individual ones I don't care about). But the impact of just having Slack open seems immense. Am I missing something here? Has anyone else seen this behavior over the last few months? Help me save my battery-life!
