This is the death of a public space, it's withdrawal. Now this is a dark age technology, a void that information goes into & never comes out of. This is socially dead technology.
"Public space"? It's Twitter, I think you give them too much credit. 12 months ago, clicking on a Twitter link forced you to log-in the moment you interacted with anything on the site, if that's not an information void then I'm not sure what is.
To me, Twitter has always been dark-age technology. Syndicating discrete feeds is not rocket science, relying on Twitter as much as we did to provide a supposedly-public space was a huge mistake.

Gmail? IRC? Wix.com?
It's crazy, particularly in this site's culture, how many people perceive Twitter as "the world". Just because Oreo and Wendy's have an account there doesn't mean you're addressing everyone. It's an echo chamber, unfortunately one that keeps getting louder and denser as time goes on. Supporting Twitter was never a good idea, under either of their idiot CEOs.
enough with these posts, there is closure to this situation -Twitter usage is declining and going downhill anyway, so there's less interesting data to even scrape anyway. There has to be worthwhile data for it to be worth the while and cost.

Having your own fractured tiny little corner in wix or wherever is just so very far away from being in a connected space. It's no compare at all.
