What happens when video becomes an everyday tool? - Socialcam (YC W2012)

Hello,

Recently at Socialcam we have seen a glimpse of what happens when you make video capture simple enough for the everyday person.

Here's a short story:

One of our users is a middle aged used car salesman in the midwest. With the tight economy he was desperate to differentiate himself from the local competition. Then he found Socialcam. It is typical for potential customers to call around to a large number of car lots to hunt for a deal. Normally, our user would take the call and try to close the potential buyer over the phone. This method had a very low conversion rate. Now when a customer calls about a car - he asks them for their email address so he can send them more information. Then he goes to the car on the lot, grabs his iPhone, and takes an in depth video - exterior, interior, pricing, etc. The number of call backs he gets with these videos is through the roof.

2 years ago this would have been almost impossible.

Today its the reality for few. What if everyone understood how useful and easy videos can be in their everyday lives?

If you interested in learning more about how we can make this a reality for all - drop us a line: founders@socialcam.com
