Globalization is over. The US has no interest in securing the shipping lanes apart from ones strategically vital to certain goods that can’t yet be made locally.
The US has a decent demographic profile and an amazing trading partner to the south, as well as a culture well adapted at integrating immigrants.
Not to mention the US is a net exporter of energy. Houston is on track to be run almost entirely on renewables in the next 10 years, leaving plenty of room to export the shale oil from Texas.
The 21st century will be the American century, just like the 20th was.
