The quest for longevity factors is quixotic for quite a few reasons, not least because humans are already full of longevity factors, particularly our heart lasts for about four times as many beats as other mammals. If you double the lifespan of a yeast, fruit fly, or mouse, you could be just getting half way to where people already are. Maybe calorie restriction is real for humans but I'd say generally animal models are completely uninteresting for longevity in humans.

(The other reason is that people just want to believe so hard that they will chase fluorescence artifacts and other bogus signals to no end.)
