Cheers! Yeah. Not great. At least most (not all) of the state laws are pretty reasonable by themselves (awful to track in aggregate) if you're small beans and just getting starting.
What sucks is that lawyers, consultants, and sales tax software companies love to make the answer to the "do I need to worry about compliance right now?" question super opaque and scary unless you pay them $$$$$$$, when the short answer is "no" (with a few caveats) when you're just getting started.
