Ask HN: Good resources on building an enterprise API?

Can anyone recommend good resources / instructionals / strategies for building out a metered scalable, performant enterprise REST API on a PaaS (heroku, render, fly)?

Stack: Rails 7, Stripe, Render

Looking for gotchas and anti-patterns as a large potential client asked for an API…we currently don’t have one.
