Ask HN: What do people think of the CMA blocking the MSoft/AvB Deal in the UK?

With Microsoft coming out with statements like "bad for Britain" and marked Microsoft's "darkest day" in its four decades of working in the country[0], it feels like Microsoft wants people to think they were surprised by the decision, and that it was unreasonable.

Does Microsoft have a point? Or are these just angry execs throwing their weight around? Do people think the CMA was being reasonable in blocking this deal in the UK, or is Microsoft right to be angry?

I don’t like the Activision/Microsoft merger.

This was the right decision by the UK regulators. Microsoft is just doing extravagant sensationalism and FUD since this blocks the entire merger.

No. They don't have a point.

This is just a big corporation complaining over the fact that they didn't get the result they wanted and they're crying at the UK regulator(s).

Horizontal integration of existing multi-billion dollar games companies in the same industry is bad for gamers in general and anyone who trusts that such large companies like Microsoft not be anti-competitive with these triple AAA game titles is beyond delusional.

This is the side of the fence that I'm on. IMO Microsoft shouldn't be allowed to simply buy their way to the top of the food chain
