Ask HN: AI’s Silver Lining for Software?

I have been pondering for years about the potential to bring more kinds of people into the software development industry through division of labor. It seems to me that we may be on the verge of being able to make this happen. What are your thoughts?

- Software development remains a "craft" that limits the number of people who can participate. Division of labor is mostly absent from the process.

- Technology (with AI) is such that a division of labor is now achievable in software development that can lower cost, reduce schedules, increase efficiency, increase quality and potentially improve morale

- All educated people are capable of contributing to the development of a product or solution

- Contributing to the development of something is tangible, rewarding and self-affirming
