I agree with him that worrying about it is not going to help but I think the issue is more about the way most wake up, most interrupt their sleep with an alarm. Threw away my alarm clock 20 odd years ago when I finished highschool and started going to sleep 10 to 12 hours before I had to be anywhere. I wake up when I wake up and I don't even have a way to check the time in my bedroom beyond the light coming in the window, doesn't matter when I wake up since even if I sleep long I will still have the needed time to get ready for the day. Generally do all my chores, some reading, cook breakfast/food for the day/week, and get most of my errands done in the mornings before work which is quite nice since when I get done with work my time is truly free to do with as I please.
At this point in life I sleep ~7 hours a night or wake up ~3 hours before I have be anywhere in the case of getting to bed late.
