I do wonder this - I also wonder about companies constantly posting they're hiring - like, why are your employees churning so badly?
You don't need a very large company to always be hiring for _something_, and some are growing even in the current climate.
Its a trick to create an positive outlook on the company.
No, only from "who wants to be hired" -- not "contractor, seeking contractor" either.

I think managers (at least on here) still prefer people who come to them, vs people they have to seek out.

I got a contracting gig from one of those posts, pay is really great and I am up for my second year renewal. The interviews I had from those threads (two dozen), where also much better than any interview I got lined up from LinkedIn.
I sent out emails on a “Who is hiring?” thread and received zero responses. However so far in my career I’ve found success in seeking out opportunities.
