If he wasn't already a conservative radical from spending the second half of his life building megafactories, dodging regulators and kissing China's ass, I'm not sure if old Tuck Carlson could change much.
Elon is fairly left leaning by any reasonable standard from a few years ago. It’s not Elon that became radicalized (He’s cringe and autistic but not a radical), it’s the partisans who attack anyone who is vaguely a centrist, either by cancel culture or often times physical violence.

I disagree, but I’m open to the argument. Musk qua Twitter CEO seems comfortable pushing policies that highlight white supremacists. The Atlantic, a centre-right rag, makes a good case here [1].
His roles at Tesla and SpaceX are more complicated. But someone only bring a right-wing reactionary sometimes is far from exoneration.
No. He's not left leaning by any means. He's been openly promoting racial theories, pushing up far-right radicals and lashing out at people. It seems you forgot that the whole 'pedo guy' lawsuit was literally just a few years ago by your own standards which alone showcased his true colors.
Elon seems more like he needs attention in a cloying, needy way.
More importantly, I worry for us Americans. Institutional competency is at a WWII low. And that tends to attract outsized talking morons to fill the void. We don't need more trash talking and gossip mongering.
Culture wars have not done much good for the US. Both the left and right have done their fair share of making it worse. Identity politics --- the need to bring personal issues into public spaces and always be selling is also needy, cloying, and obnoxious.
A small anecdote: after the Kentucky Derby, the Kentucky governor plugged his state, and the winner-jockey gave thanks to his faith as the lead off remarks. Why? I am belatedly understanding why people are getting turned off with sports. Keep the soap box, proselytizing out.
