Ask HN: Should SaaS product managers have System Design Thinking skills?

Ive been currently working with and interviewing many different product managers and Im finding the "unicorn" product managers are the ones that have actual System design thinking skills.

Without these, I feel that product management becomes too nebulous and generic. Speaking specifically about software product management.
