There's been amazing hype/crash cycles about the next thing that will drive pharma forward every 5-10 years since the 60's. Hopefully, AI (representing more complex statistics with more data on more hardware) will do better than the last few. The non-linear modeling isn't new (look up Gasteiger's and similar groups) but the sheer amount of data and CPU power is impressive.
Hopefully, the models are stable and predictive. And that the dog doesn't up and die during development.
As an industry insider it's fascinating how Japanese firms are generally known to be technology averse and bad at software but Takeda is a strangely fast adopter of technology - makes some American pharma companies look slow. Curious if anyone knows how they do it.
