INAL. Could someone knowledgeable explain why keeping someone out of jail during appeals is even an option?

Even if your appeal seems likely to win, which I guess is weird to have happen it may not and you can wait in jail. Since appeals require money most of the time it seems a way to wealthy people to delay punishment

isn't it because she made bail?
“bail” refers exclusively to pre-trial conditions. Not only is she post-conviction, she is post-sentencing, so bail has nothing to do with it. Generally white collar defendants get some time to get their affairs in order before incarceration. She is arguably abusing that time and trying her best to extend it via appeals.
People with unlimited funds to blow on court proceedings can gum up the works for an astoundingly long time.
Does she have unlimited funds?
She has unlimited funds to gum up the system. I think that's what they meant.
At this point I am starting to believe that she’ll get away. Millions of dollars is all it takes to abuse the US judicial system.
One pissed judge is all it takes to tell US Marshals to happily plop her in prison.
Which is a major flaw, she’s too child-looking to piss off a judge.

If it were for the facts alone, she would have been serving.

I find her continued non-incarceration infuriating. "Liz" needs to be in a cell. NOW.

I guarantee you, somewhere in the US, there is a black inmate named Elizabeth Holmes, incarcerated for some petty theft, who has a better case for remaining free than this fraudster.

Is that even worth archiving lol ....

She needs to quit carrying on - Bryan, Texas isn't that bad
Obviously she’s been found guilty and we do need to ensure the justice system can’t be corrupted by money and the rich can’t wiggle out, but I do worry about how thirsty everyone is in these threads for carcereal solutions and retribution and such.
It’s funny how much I want her to go to jail and be punished for her stupidity and fraud and hubris. It’s schadenfreude and not emotionally mature, but I feel this want unlike other few news stories.

I’ve worked in a bunch of startups and realize there is no justice for all the mistakes and poor behavior I did and witnessed so I feel like much of what bothered me over 30 years is finally getting some justice in Holmes going to jail.

I read the book and watched the mini series and her brazen bullshittery is so much. And that she’s been trying to dodge her sentence. And that she had two kids after being found guilty and tried to use that to reduce her sentence. And that she’s still super duper rich due to her fraud and has unearned luxury.

I don’t wish ill will on anyone, but if she gets shanked in prison I still feel like she made out pretty well for living a billionaire’s life for a decade too long.

Oh yeah, there’s also the media hype machine where they praise the wrong people for the wrong reasons. It’s like tech’s Bernie Madoff to me.

This is what scares me! Now that she’s a symbol it’s easier to take the gloves off. You can project all your hate (yourself, the media, the rich, her) onto this one person. You want punishment not just for the fraud, but for stupidity and hubris and luxury which are not crimes.

You’re giving yourself credit for not wishing ill on anyone in the same sentence you’re essentially fantasizing about her death in a prison fight. That’s not justice, that’s not even vengeance, it’s beyond!

Again, not saying she’s not super guilty. I don’t give a shit about her. It’s this reaction in ourselves we need to temper.

For some you worry, whereas for others you turn a blind eye. She's been found guilty yet here you are pointing a finger at the people who want justice to served. Why shouldn't the same judicial system work for her like it has for others?
Who have I turned a blind eye to? I’m not worried for her, I’m worried for all the people in here obsessing about this.
I am nearly expecting her (her legal team) to find ever new ways to keep her out of jail.

Perhaps all ending in an overturn of her conviction and plea deal.

How can she afford a legal team though?
