as someone who has religiously used UBO for the last decade, (ABP before), who uses sponsorblock in newpipe and libretube, who uses open source clients for reddit and some other websites i use, who does not have a google account linked to my android (aurora store just works, but primarily f-droid), i feel "weirded out" when i hear an advert or see one.
We do not have a TV at home so i am pretty much isolated from advertisements so imagine my surprise when i was riding with someone and their car was on the local FM station and they were blabbering some nonsense, songs and then a "commercial break" . urrrgh..
i understand people have to make money but the way internet is structured, you either wall it off like onlyfans where everyone is a paying customer or you let go of any considerations for "ad supported model". sure a lot of people watch ads but i'd rather not consume media that peddles ads. free or paid. no inbetween.
