In 2020, new shipping regulation came into effect (#IMO2020), decreasing the maximum amount of sulfur in shipping fuels from 3.5% to 0.5%.
From 2020 we see a rapid increase in the amount of solar radiation that's being absorbed by the northern hemisphere which sees a lot of ships' traffic.
Total solar irradiance on Earth appears to have decreased, from when measurements began in the 1950s. It continued into the 1990s, and has started to slowly reverse in recent decades. [1] Gasses and particulate pollution from industrial combustion is thought to be much of the reason. The dimming is worse over large industrialized regions. Greying out the sky with ash and smog. It likely began in the 19th century, and was probably masking the effects of greenhouse-gas-driven warming.

But I like the simplicity of older webpages sometimes. Overengineering websites such as Reddit is useless beyond testing out new ideas.
