Click-bait IMHO. It was a virtual exercise. In virtual reality a virtual human operator was killed. That detail could've fit into the title.
Absolutely, horrible misrepresentation with that title.

Yes, I just read an update on another newspaper website. First it was reported it was a virtual simulation, now it's reported it was all hypothetical.
