Show HN: Summer AI – An AI Powered Tour Guide
About a year ago I left my job at Apple to work on an idea I felt was acutely needed; an app that would help you discover a bit about the things around you. The information we want is out there but finding it and relating it to the things you are looking at is not easy when out and about.
Summer AI (https://summer.ai/app) is an AI Guide that narrates the world around you. On a high level, we scrape the internet for information related to points of interest and events, then combine and filter it all down, using LLM's to summarize the final set and then use TTS to narrate it.
Under an earlier name of Wonderfy, we applied to YC a couple of times but didn't get in, although the feedback was amazingly helpful. So instead we've been bootsrapping this and consulting on the side. It's been an amazing journey bringing this to life. The improvements in LLM's definatly helped us along. We're definately standing on the shoulders of many giants so just wanted to also say thanks to everyone working on things that have enabled this.
