I'm starting to see these pundit confessions coming in more and more. (See 1:30 for about 30 seconds for the gist. 11:50 for the fake tears...) The politician playbook is to beg for mercy, move on, and hope for the best. Since a journalist at her level (seems to me) is as disconnected from reality as the politicians they exclusively cover, it doesn't surprise me that she would try the same play. The public has set expectations pretty low for everyone connected professionally to this circus. Personally, I think the time has long passed to cut ties.

Bill Mahrer is another example of someone desperately trying to remain viable by pretending to be a neutral commenter. In reality, he helped birth the whole thing and certainly nurtured it as it was feasting on traditional or religious lifestyles and ginning up laughs and eyeballs for media giants.
