Are there any types of geographical meetups where people can just talk about what they are working on, or listen in to what others are working on?

AA as in Alcoholics Anonymous? I don’t think that those are meetups like you are describing.

Perhaps not, but I'm curious if there are people who have addictive personalities to their own projects where they may spend a lot of time away from their families (like, their children) or may postpone other types of responsibilities, and just build things, just for the sake of building things.
