I purposely chose to keep my own family folklore off the internet. I'm not -that- old, but perhaps about a generation behind in the times. My dad always called refrigerators 'iceboxes', and lunch dinner.

He had a ton of really odd to me sayings. At times I found myself saying them now as a Dad. As a late teen I tried to Google some, to little effect. I remember "Dewey button" as one. But there were -countless- others.

We have a family sword, civil war era, and a story behind it, but neither the name nor the story return any results other than that the person engraved on it existed. Probably.

The beauty of it became rather profound to me. It was maybe the first time I realized the internet doesn't know everything. And by that I mean it knew very little in the grand scheme of things. It's something that seemed to exist completely outside of culture or the internet in general. I hope my children will feel the same.
