Tell HN: I never realized how much I relied on Reddit until today

I used to think that I used Google for most of my searches and Reddit occasionally and boy I was so wrong. After pretty much every search I did today lead to a private sub error, I realized I was just using Google to search Reddit. I’m at a point where other results in Google just frustrate me. I tried using other sources today and oh boy there’s so much useless text and irrelevant details. Makes me want to just take the Reddit archives and a personal searchable database.

I'm genuinely curious here. I'm not a Reddit user. I rarely need to click on a Reddit link. As in, probably only once or twice this year so far.

What does Reddit have that I'm evidently missing?

I guess I mainly search for documentation stuff...

Reddit has largely replaced the examples and guidance roles that forums played. In many ways it is a beginner’s stack exchange.
