India’s government has threatened to shut down Twitter unless the social media giant complies with orders to restrict accounts that are critical of the government’s handling of farmer protests, according to co-founder Jack Dorsey.

Dorsey also alleged that India threatened the company with raids on employees if it did not comply with government requests to take down certain posts.

Deputy Minister for Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar, a top-ranking official in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, called Dorsey’s assertions an “outright lie”.
