Ask HN: Discord account disabled, no response from support?

5 points by programmeruser ↗ HN
I mostly just lurk around and only read HN, but I need some help with an issue that's been plaguing me for the last 2 weeks.

I use my Discord mostly for talking in tech communities and messaging people. But somehow I got my account disabled on Discord for being involved in "malicious hacking, fraud, account or credit card cracking, and/or attempting to damage a computer network or machine". I've never done anything remotely close to that on Discord. However, contacting support just gives me an initial bot response and 0 follow-up replies.

For some reason Discord also starts deleting these disabled accounts 14-30 days after they're disabled, and I can't find any way to download my account data.

I would really appreciate any pointers from people who've dealt with these kinds situations before, whether it's on Discord or on some other platform that had similar issues.

You were in a community that got banned for the above.

Create a new Discord account, or better yet, stop using Discord.

Unfortunately I can't not use Discord since there are some people that are best reached through Discord.

In an ideal world I could just make another account and forget about this, but there's still data in my old account that I can't export.
