Amazon Web Services (AWS) experienced a disruption that affected several websites, including those of the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the Boston Globe, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Delta, The Associated Press, The Verge, and New York transit agency MTA.

The outage was caused by an issue with a subsystem responsible for capacity management for AWS Lambda, which caused errors directly for customers and indirectly through the use by other AWS services.
