Ask HN: Job opportunities for self taught developer

I am a competent self taught software developer with a strong grasp on Typescript using React on the frontend and express on the backend. Currently I am learning to create Shopify apps and checkout extensions. Previously I had been working in the (legal) medical marijuana industry for quite some time, so I don’t have any related real world software development experience to point to on a resume. Is there a path I can follow for shifting into a career in software development? Are there any companies willing to take a chance on someone in my position?
