Ask HN: What are your suggestions for a better landing page?

I've been doing research only on the landing page for 2 days. I made a lot of notes. Let me tell you 2 of the best methods I've learned.

1. Long landing pages are more advantageous than short landing pages. Because the more he/she knows about you, the more he/she trusts you.

2. Users do not read, they scan with their eyes.

3. ? 4. ? 5. ?

Focus on benefits not features

Have a clear value proposition

> Focus on benefits not features

It really depends on your audience. If you're building a developer tool, it's always features over benefits.

why What do I care bout features if I don't get why I should care about it
> Long landing pages are more advantageous than short landing pages. Because the more he/she knows about you, the more he/she trusts you. Sure but make the information available via many F.A.Q type links to allow the viewer to choose which information they are interested in.

Recommend you have potential clients test it for you and TAKE NOTE of their comments and actions.

3. You get less than 5 sseconds to attract them and keep them on teh page.

4. Have a good CTAB, usuaully up top, with the reason they are on the page

5. Use images or infographics where possible

6. Branding is important.

7. Familitarity when branding works best.

Been designing landing pages for a decade... picked up a thing or two.

Don't be creepy. Follow the metrics too hard and your landing page will have highlights and neon CTA everywhere. It ends up looking like every other scam site.
OK, I understand. I made new updates. Will it work, we'll see. :)
